Logo October 29: New Buffy action figure photos

We've decided that action figure info fits best in this catch-all section. So here's a bit of news: New photos are out of the recently resurrected Buffy the Vampire Slayer line from Moore. Check out the exclusive photos at Cinescape.com. These figures will be coming out in April and include four versions of Willow: Season Five Willow, Transformation Willow (chase figure short packed in Season Five Willow Cases), Vampire Willow (Toyfare Exclusive), and Dark Witch Willow (Cinquest.com Exclusive). In addition there will be a Good Witch Willow figure which will be available only to Moore Collectors Society members.

We were very happy to see the Buffy line of figures return from the dead. There were a number of the figures that were scheduled to be released this fall before the cancellation of the line which we really wanted to have, including Tara, Anya, and Wesley. Moore Action Collectibles has said that these figures are all possibilities for future release if things go well with the resurrected line. So, if you want to see the rest of your favorite Buffy and Angel characters made into action figures, be sure to pick up some Willows this spring so that MAC can see that there's still life in this line.

This bit of info didn't fit well into any other category, so we decided to place it here:

The BBC has just launched a web-based animated supernatural horror series called Ghosts of Albion. Ghosts was created and written by Amber Benson (Tara from Buffy) and Christopher Golden (writer of Buffy comics and novels). Amber Benson also directed. The series consists of five 12-minute episodes. According to the Ghosts website, the series is set in London in 1838. "As Demons swarm across the land, William and Tamara Swift must fight to find the wound in the Heart of London - using magic, intelligence, and the help of some long-dead friends."

If you head over to the Ghosts of Albion website, you can watch the first episode. (A new episode will be available each Thursday at noon). You can also check out additional interactive content on the site including clues that you can discuss with other viewers and with the characters from the series on the discussion board, interviews with the cast and crew, and Tamara's diary.

We enjoyed the first episode of Ghosts of Albion and encourage you to go check it out. Although the technology is still a bit primitive for this kind of thing, we view these types of projects as hopeful signs for the future. We believe that right now the best hope for science fiction is to find alternate ways to reach the fans that don't involve television networks. As the technology continues to improve, the internet may become one viable alternative, and projects like this pave the way for that to happen.

Logo September 18: New Willow and Tara Comic

If you are still suffering from the shock of Tara's death at the end of last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (like we are), then you can get just a tiny bit of relief from your withdrawl symptoms by picking up the new BTVS: Willow and Tara Comic "Wilderness". This is a 2 issue set co-written by Amber Benson who played Tara on Buffy. Issue #2 came out last week, so you should still be able to find it on the stands at your local comic book store (and look for issue #1 hiding behind #2 or in the back issues bin). Both issues feature two different covers, one art cover and one photo cover. The photo covers are nice, even though the are just collages of existing publicity shots.

We are really going to miss Tara next season, but we were glad to hear that Amber Benson will be appearing on the show in some form. We don't know what role she will be playing, since Joss Whedon has only said (in typically mysterious fashion): "Tara will not be back. But Amber will."
